  Cassini’s Division
Alternative Rock

Seven years after bursting into Calcutta’s music scene with its emotionally charged brand of original alternative rock, Cassini’s Division continues to make fresh and innovative music, earning accolades and adding to its considerable fan base.

Cassini’s Division, as always, continues to evolve and develop its distinctive brand of hybrid rock, fusing elements of hip hop and pop music with soaring anthemic melodies and the power of heavy rock music. Lyrically as well as musically the band has developed a more inclusive approach thereby reaching outside the rigid confines of stereotypical genre-based sounds.

  Travelling River
Fusion Band

When the Traveling Rivers woke up one morning from their unsettling dreams, they refused to find themselves changed into a monstrous vermin. And of the desire to sound out their refusal, this strange looking band, half-men-half-vermin, weird but wonderful started making their music. With their distinctive hybrid of folk, blues, introspection, jazz and all the genuine, honest music of the universe, the riverine band remains in a constant state of flux, plunging their eager proboscis everywhere, genre after genre, artist after artist, experience after experience, into the vast unknown recesses of the internet and the illegal. Still in their nascent days, the band holds tremendous promise, takes its music seriously, and takes the serious musically. All because the Jewish cowboy who has something to say about everything once said, ?To live outside the law, you must be honest.
For the Travelling Rivers, divinity comes in the different shapes and the different sounds of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Nick Drake, Ray Charles, Thelonious Monk, The Velvet Underground, Billie Holiday and The Beatles.

Two people living in the same flat complex find their partners are having an affair with each other. As they try and piece together how it happened, they also embark on an emotional journey that aches for a resolution…

Building on his previous success with Happy Together and Chungking Express, Wong Kar Wai gives us this rather old fashioned and marvellous story of reawakened passions, yearning and unrequited love.

Possibly, In the Mood for Love is not to everyone's taste. It wanders in rather lazily at 98mins: not particularly long for a film, but it appears longer because not a lot really happens. But this lazy feel conceals a quite tightly constructed film. Most of the story is cunningly woven around a series of set piece role plays, where the characters act out presumed scenarios between their respective spouses, trying to work out how the affair started. I say cunning because, of course, this makes it difficult for the audience (and the characters) to tell what is "in-role" and what is genuine.

  Prayag
Hindi Rock

Our music aims to be spiritual as well as sensual, rocking as well as thought provoking, kick-(you-know-what) as well as soothing. Like the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna & the Saraswati, we are about influences from different shores intermingling to create a new sound that experiments freely with soundscapes, defies genre barriers, and yet is as uniquely Indian as it is rooted in rock.
We don?t believe in hatred. We believe in the power of music, to heal, to touch, to provoke, to speak to you ? And to change lives.

  EOL Trio
Jazz, Electronica

What would it sound like if Radiohead jammed with Herbie Hancock? A growing force in the burgeoning nu jazz scene, this threesome peppers their jazz compositions with a heady blend of disparate sounds, which work both above and below the waistline.
eol trio manufactures an eclectic jazz, authentic, intuitive. Their music is not pure chance, but the fruit of a four-handed chord, all in the family. It's 15 years that the two brothers have played together, four years that they have produced eol trio and have thus given rise to a "mongrel" jazz, full of history and modernity. eol trio produces a UFO jazz, substantially evolutionary. Research, experimentation are the nerve, the force of the group. Their first album proves it.

  Rahul Sharma
Fusion

Rahul Sharma was born in Mumbai to the santoor player Shivkumar Sharma and Manorama, from a family steeped in the tradition of Kashmir. His grandfather, Uma Dutt Sharma, was a master of the santoor. The harsh tone of the instrument made it fall out of line with folk music as well as classical music, but Uma Dutt Sharma persisted.

  Coffee and Cigarettes
World Cinema

The film is composed of a comic series of short vignettes shot in black and white built on one another to create a cumulative effect, as the characters discuss things such as caffeine popsicles, Paris in the 1920s, and the use of nicotine as an insecticide — all the while sitting around drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. The theme of the film is absorption in the obsessions, joys, and addictions of life, and there are many common threads between vignettes (such as the Tesla coil, medical knowledge, the suggestion that coffee and cigarettes don't make for a healthy meal (generally lunch), cousins, The Lees (Cinqué, Joie, and a mention of Spike), musicians, industrial music, acknowledged fame, and the idea of drinking coffee before sleeping in order to have fast dreams). In each of the segments of the film, the common motif of alternating black and white tiles can be seen in some fashion.

  No Era
Rock

NO ERA is :- NOel on guitar and vocals, Ezra on bass, Raghu on guitar, Ashok on percussion. NO ERA songs deal with bringing up children and their parents in an aesthetical and efficient manner. These are possibly two of the most important aspects of a tolerant and progressive society, which Lennon immortalized in Imagine. Though these songs were conceptualized and composed in the late 1970's, the 'folkish', classical-rock based compositions, with execution by 23 year old speed rockers accentuates the original flavour of the music with a new age zest that is refreshing and influential. There is also a possibility that no one else in the world has ever saved songs for over 30 years, making this a historical situation. Band Vision: Get the music and lyrics across to the world, as therapy to harmonize humanity. Band Mission: To think musically together long enough to make it work.
